Rainbow Stars Day Nursery

We are located in a lovely residential area on Headcorn road, in Thornton Heath off London road. Close to bus stop which serve bus 60 and 109. And a stone throw to Norbury station. 


We offer a safe, caring, fun and stimulating learning environment for children aged 3 months- 5 years olds 


We are opened 50 weeks a year, closed for bank holidays and during Christmas week and New Year.


We offer full and half day sessions from 8:00am – 6:00pm

We are offering Wrap around service: Breakfast, Afterschool and Holiday scheme. 

Before School

On arrival at the setting your child will be welcomed by our friendly staff to join in the mornings daily activities, Breakfast is served from 8.10am to 8.30am, breakfast consists of cereal and milk, toast and fruit, milk and water is available. 

your child is free to join in any activities he/she wishes to before their trip to school.

After School

Your child will be met at the end of the school day by a member of staff of our team, they will then be escorted back to the setting. 

 

While’s at the setting the children will be given a light tea, water and milk are available throughout the session.

 

There would be various activities set up for your child to take part in from such as board games, painting, play dough, sand water, mark making, reading and free play.

 

 There will be a chance for your child to complete any home work they may have with the staff on hand to offer support.

 

The setting has an outdoor area and the children will have opportunity daily to access outdoor play with a wide variety of resources and equipment.

Holiday / Half Term

Our setting will be open for all children who wish to attend school holidays from 8am to 18.00pm Monday to Friday.

 

Your child will be involved in a wide variety of activities and experiences throughout all school holidays. Staff would provide age appropriate and stimulating activities to ensure a fun filled holiday. Activities range from painting, sand, water, free play to outings and trips. Trips consist of visits to our local park as well as farm trips and theme parks. 

 

We encourage lots of outdoor play throughout the day and in the finer weather we take the inside outdoors.

 

Breakfast and a light tea will be provided however children are asked to bring a nut free packed lunch.

Baby Room

3 months - 18 months

Our specially decorated baby room provides a very
functional attention to not only the physical needs of the babies under our care but also their developmental wellbeing that is cognitive, social and emotional wellbeing. We provide an atmosphere where parents feel happy and comfortable leaving their babies in our care as we always provide a home away from home environment.

Our baby room provides a variety of age appropriate toys and resources which encourages development and the babies can also benefit from our sensory room.

Our free flow structure for the children ensure that they
progress at their own pace which caters to all learning styles thus providing a richer learning environment which aids the development of younger children.

Toddler Room

18 months - 36 months

Our toddler room consist of children between the ages of 18-36 months. At this stage, children become more mobile, are aware of themselves and their surroundings and hence they desire to explore new objects.

Our toddler room thus provides a variety of resources which engages them in active learning, gives a stimulating environment that would encourage them to express themselves while having fun and developing their fine motor skills along the way.

Preschool Room

3 - 5 years

Our pre-school room cater for children from 3 to 5 years. At this stage, children’s learning is more tailored as they are prepared for the move from Day nursery to school. We focus learning on the EYFS seven arears of learning which comprise of both Prime and Specific areas.

Children in the Pre-school room benefit from a wide range of resources and activities are often planned to challenge every child and give them the chance to develop while also having lots of fun.

In our pre-school room, we encourage our children to contribute to the running of the setting and self-care which would boost their confidence as they get involved with tidying up their toys after play, putting their food waste in the food bin after their meals, putting and taking their coats and shoes on and off.

When the time comes for our pre-schoolers to transition, we work closely with the schools creating a strong partnership and communication by providing a full term report which ensures a smooth transition.

Finally, as a way of sending forth our pre-schoolers, parents and close family members are invited to our graduation ceremony.

Sensory Room

Our sensory room provides the children we cater for that sense of calm and comfort as it helps them learn to self-regulate their behaviours which ultimately improves focus. With this in mind, they learn to manage their emotions in a controlled environment without feeling they are being isolated of punished.

The sensory room allows our children the freedom and autonomy to explore the environment themselves in their own time using all of their senses and most importantly, it provides a therapeutic environment with children with special educational need and autism.

Dining Room

We promote healthy eating choices for all our children from a young age as we know how important that aids their development. Our meals are specially sourced and freshly prepared taking into consideration our children who have allergies and intolerance. All of our staff have the required food and hygiene training.

Our children benefit from a wide range of food selection. We provide for breakfast a selection of cereal, yogurts, toast or fruit and our mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks are healthy comprising of mixed fruit and milk. 

Our lunch and dinner are substantive varied and balanced meals.

Nap Area

Studies have shown that children who regularly get adequate amount of sleep have improved attention, behaviours, learning, memory and overall mental and physical health.

We understand that for a number of different reasons, our children may not be able to get the required amount of sleep at home hence our nap room provides a cosy atmosphere for them to have a nap or rest when they feel tired which we have found out helps them to be more productive.

The room temperature is constantly monitored and there would
always be a staff to monitor whenever a child is asleep.
